Happy Mother's Day

I wanted to be up to date and post this right on time for Mother's Day. Here are the cards I made for the mothers in my life. Thank you to all the women out there who have helped raise us to be the people we are today, taught us by example the definition of sacrifice, and inspired us to be all they dreamed we could be.

If you haven't guessed by now, I LOVE Tiddly Ink images. When I saw the next image which was called "Sisters," I knew I just had to have it. JDM X 3 --representing me, and my two younger sisters, Janet and Jessica!

Engagement Card

It surprises me that I have yet to find a stamp or stamp set that has an engagement sentiment. So far I haven't been able to find a "congrats on your engagement" or "happy engagement" stamp. So I make do with what I have. Got my inspiration for this card again from Kristina Werner. Check out her version here. With watercolor there's no real right or wrong, and every card is always a little different. It was fun to play...

Hoppy Easter!

I know it's May now, and Easter was two weeks ago, but I just had to share my Easter 2014 cards. I missed dying eggs with my friends, the Kennedys, and watching their little tykes search for Easter eggs on their front lawn, so I thought I'd send their boys an Easter card. Once I made one card, it was hard to stop there, and so I made my family cards as well ;) Notice how the background is embossed with a weave pattern that reminds me of Easter baskets!

I added some brown flocking powder to its tummy and tail.

This bunny rabbit actually moves! I placed it on a Wobbles, basically a little spring that allows it to "wobble" back and forth if it's touched. I thought the boys would have fun with that!

Of course I had to make the bunny ears fluffy!

Circus Themed Birthday

I was so sad to miss this awesome circus-themed 1st birthday party for my cousin's son, but I was glad I was asked to make the birthday boy his outfit for his big day.

Isn't it amazing what a Cricut can do?

Isn't he the cutest? He got this shirt dirty with watermelon--luckily I made enough for two!

April Birthday Cards

Wow! April came and went! I was so busy last month and only now am able to catch up on my blog posts. It was a busy month for birthdays, from my sister to my father-in-law, to one of my good pals. Here are the cards I made last month for them...

My sister loves cake and cupcakes--guess I am not the only one who knows this. She says every card she received this year had cupcakes on it!

I made this card for my friend Tiffany, such a fun-loving and happy person--I had to make an equally happy card, complete with the color yellow, polka dots, and bees!

When I think of my father-in-law, who turned 69 this year, I think of him growing up in the 60's and being in the peace corp. One of the first things that comes to my mind about the 60's is tie dye! I used an awesome technique I learned in a Distress Ink class and also from one of my favorite card makers, Kristina Werner. You can check out her video here to learn how I made this cool background. The white stars are actually made using a stencil and embossing paste, then covered with glitter. For this technique, check out the blog of Debby Hughes. It creates a little extra dimension, and extra "wow" factor.

Anniversary Card

I was asked to recreate one of my wedding cards using the colors blue and gold for a couple celebrating their one year wedding anniversary. The couple apparently took a color test, and blue/gold were their colors. A special request was also made to incorporate the husband's nickname for his wife, which translates to "Life" or "True Love" in Hindi. What a thoughtful husband! Happy Anniversary to these love birds!
